Our History

Fourth Generation

The world has changed significantly since the day George and Isabelle Wilson packed all their belongings, hitched a team of horses to their wagon, and trekked down the foothills to their new homestead in Clarksburg in 1922. Just about everything has changed…except the land. Their farm is still the heart of the Wilson family.

The fourth generation of Wilsons is now coming of age to live and work the land. They are the children of Mark, Ken, and Sandra Wilson:

Mark and Kathy Wilson’s Children:
Danny Wilson is an apprentice with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and works for a construction company in Sacramento. One day he may help build the family’s proposed winery!

Lindy Wilson attends California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, majoring in agricultural business with a concentration in accounting and finance. She’s on a career path that will be a great help in managing the family business!

Ken and Michelle Wilson’s Daughter:
Hannah is in her teens and already involved in the family business as an apprentice administrator. She helps around the office as a "janitorial supervisor-in-waiting."

Sandra Wilson’s Children:
Twins David and Philip Ogilvie have diverse skills that can serve the Wilson family business in a number of ways.

David earned a degree in viticulture and enology from the University of California, Davis, and then took two years to travel the world and work in wineries in South Africa, Spain, and Australia. Between jobs, he visited wineries in every country he toured. When he returned from his trip abroad, he started his own company called Purple Lips Home Winetastings (www.purplelipswinelog.blogspot.com). His company offers small wine tasting parties in private homes at which he educates guests on a selection of six different wines. On his wine-blog, David critiques wines and shares his educated palate with the rest of the cyberworld. David returned to California in November 2004 and helped make Pinot Noir and Zinfandel for Williams Selyem Winery in Sonoma for the 2005 harvest. He is currently living in Atlanta, Georgia, working as a representative for Georgia Crown of Atlanta, a wine distributor. The family hopes to have his winemaking expertise at Wilson Vineyards within the next two years.

When Philip graduated from Fresno State in 2003, he worked as the Fresno County College Director for Fellowship for Christian Athletes (FCA) overseeing and developing the FCA ministry on five college campuses. Like his great-great-grandfather, the Reverend George Washington Wilson, Philip found his calling in the Christian ministry. In 2006 he became ministry director at The Bridge Evangelical Free Church in Fresno. In late summer 2006, he and his wife Shannon left for a mission to Costa Rica. To follow Philip and Shannon’s mission, visit their website (www.thepse.blogspot.com).

Daughter Robyn Ogilvie is attending San Francisco State University pursuing a double major in marketing and fashion merchandising with a minor in business. She, too, would be a great addition to the family business with the skills that she will bring.
